BUTTERFLY WRANGLE REGATTA REPORT
The 35th annual Wrangle Regatta was held at White Rock Lake on June 12th and 13th, with both Butterflys and Lasers participating. Wind? You bet!! Lots of it. It was blowing from 15-25, perhaps more at times. That is a lot of wind for those boats. Although, the Lasers always claim that is what they like. You could see the bottoms of many boats, as even some very experienced skippers went over. The Flying Scotts Fleet was the race committee and it kept them very busy.
On Sunday, while the first race was fairly windy, in the second race, we hit such a lull that no boats were even moving for a while.
In the Butterfly Fleet, Bruce Faust came in first, Gary Eppink was 2nd and Bob Biegler took 3rd.
In the Lasers, Jennifer Jidkins was 1st, Tracy Aber 2nd and Bruce Moore came in 3rd. The girls admitted, however, that Bruce did a certain amount of coaching, and helping them during the race.
It was a fun regatta.
