From the Commodore
Fellow Corinthian Sailors -

We are in the middle of a terrific sailing season.  The Rebel fleet put on a great State Fair regatta crowding the docks with flocks of folks I have never seen before.  I don't know where they found all those sailors.  The Past Commodores Dinner was really special.  We had a very successful Club/Lake Championship with good participation and an unbelievably close finish.  This weekend the Flying Scot fleet hosted a killer Open House Regatta.  We had a good group of out-of-towners and top talent from other local clubs.  You will find more details on these events in the newsletter.  I enjoyed the many positive comments about our members and facilities from visitors at these regattas.  It is nice to be reminded how special our club is.  At dinner Saturday night during the Open House, as one out of town sailor was commenting about how he was overwhelmed by the level of participation and competition,  Doc Bellows summed it up nicely saying - "This is sailboat racing at it's finest".  I agree.  Thanks to all the members doing all the big and small things to make this possible.  Come on down and sail with us.

See you on the docks - Phil

Corinthian Sailing Club's Annual Awards Banquet

The Corinthian Sailing Club's Annual Awards Banquet is right around the Corner!  The banquet will be held at the City Club atop the Bank of America Plaza, 901 Main Street , Downtown Dallas.  The fun starts at 7:00 with dinner, drinks, awards presentation and entertainment by the Dave Anderson band - which is sure to rock the house.

****

We will also be auctioning off one of the new davits.  This will be a silent auction, with a minimum bid of $1500.  The davit is #197, which is at the very south-west corner of the club.  It's an excellent davit in a great location. Come ready to bid or send someone to do your bidding for you!

****

Dress is cocktail attire'ish - dressy, but not formal.  See if you can recognize anyone once they have cleaned up a bit!  The banquet is always a great party, so bring your family, friends - all are welcome.

The charge per person is $20.00.
Please RSVP to Natalie Mauney by November 4th. Call 214-341-6243 or email her at natalie.mauney@eds.com

CSC T-shirts Design Contest
Since we're almost out of our current design club T-shirts, I'd like the members to submit any design ideas they have to me, by Dec 1. They can submit it in hardcopy in person at the docks, by mail, or via a zipped JPG file (or other standard file format) to my email address - natalie.mauney@eds.com.  The winner of the t-shirt design contest not only will have the satisfaction of seeing their work on everyone's backs, but they'll also receive a $50 West Marine gift certificate.  We'll announce the winning design at the Annual Meeting in January.

The design should be appropriate to the club and sailing.  The design is for the back of the shirt, the front will still have our burgee and name.  I don't want to limit anyone's creativity.  Simple designs with a few main colors work best on T-shirts, but we're open to any design that a member submits. The board members will vote on the winning design.  Natalie Mauney

Wednesday Night Fun Sail
We had super participation in the Wednesday night fun races, but have run out of daylight.  Thanks to all who participated in making this a great series.  Bob Gough

CSC Board Meeting
The next CSC board meeting will be at 7PM on the dock on Tuesday, November 6.  The board meetings are open to all members.  Don't forget to vote on the 6th.

What’s New on the CSC Website
The website navigation menu system has been revised to incorporate some new features and make it easier to get to often used pages.  "Weather" now links to a new page with additional weather related sources.  The great new club "Roster" is now found directly under "The Club" menu to make it easier to access.  A new "Photo Album" page has been added under "The Club" submenu, so we need some photos to post.  Send them to webmaster.  "Racing, Education and Events" have been brought to the top level of the menu to make them easier to get to.  "Links" has been renamed as resources to better describe its content which now includes local merchants.

The club and lake "History" has been completely redone to make it easier to navigate and maintain.  New photographs and copy were added.  Check it out and let us know what you think.  If you have something good to add, send or email it to the Frank Richards.

Details on the CSC Awards Banquet and the davit auction appeared first on the website.  Full regatta results and pictures were posted for the Junior Circuit, State Fair, Lake/Club Championship and Flying Scot Open House Regattas.  Race course and course-board diagrams were added to the Sunday "Sailing Instructions."  If you have not already checked out the super new user-friendly, searchable, printable CSC membership "Roster" that Lisle Eddy developed for our website.  Don't forget, that if you have a boat, davit or equipment that you would like to buy, lease or sell, the "Forums" can help you.  You can also get your questions answered, seek a crew, or post your fleet duty roster.

White Rock Lake Championship and Maurice Martin Championship, October 14, 2001
The Lake and Club Championship regattas were sailed as a combined event on a beautiful fall afternoon.  The wind was light, and very variable.  PRO Kelly Gough made the best of the conditions as 34 boats, representing 7 fleets, competed in the Portsmouth handicap series. There was a 4 way tie for first place between Marke Smith, Richard Wade, Tom Miller and Dave Mendelblatt.  Marke Smith won the tie breaker with the most firsts.  Congratulations to Marke and Rhetta.

Rebel Fleet 24's State Fair Regatta, September 29, 2001
The Rebel's State Fair Regatta attracted 68 boats and 157 hungry folks for lunch.  That is a lot of boats and mouths.  They provided great weather, wind and food.  Eight classes sailed.  There was a great turnout of Day Sailers and Lasers.

Flying Scot Fleet 23 Open House Regatta, October 27 and 28, 2001
The great weather held for our fall regatta series.  Saturday was a little light and fluky out of the east, but a nice southeast wind settled in Sunday morning.  42 boats showed up with a lot of out of towners, as well a some great sailors from local lakes.  Kelly Gough won the Championship Division while Anderson Jones won a tight battle in the Challenger Division.

SMU's Annual Fall Regatta
SMU held its Annual Fall Regatta "Frozen Hate" on October 6th.  Seven schools participated with two teams each.  A double round robin was completed - that is 28 races in one day.  That's a lot of sailboat racing.  Texas won and A&M Galveston was second.
