What’s New5-30-2020 CSC Family, Another quick update on our efforts to get City of Dallas approvals regarding starting and expanding our racing and sailing education programs…. Yesterday afternoon, the Dallas Park and Recreation Department board member for our district, Maria Hasbany, who has been a huge advocate for CSC and the other clubs around White Rock Lake, received a call from the Director of the department. He told her that he decided to present these proposals to the entire Park board on Thursday, June 4th, when they have their regularly scheduled board meeting. He shared with her that he feels confident that the board will approve our proposals then, with a likely effective date either that following weekend or Monday, June 8th. Many of us including Maria, our city councilperson (Paula Blackman), and myself were expecting an approval by yesterday. However, I think we’re very close and do expect good news at this upcoming board meeting. I’ll send another email out after that board meeting to share the board’s decision. In the meantime, I appreciate your patience and adherence to our restrictions of no organized racing or other events at the club, until we get the approvals. See you at the lake! 5-29-2020 The Dallas Parks & Recreation Board just notified us this afternoon at 3 pm that summer camps at White Rock Lake are not allowed to reopen until June 8th (target date). As a result, we are changing our camp dates for sessions 1 and 3 to start one week later. See details. 5-27-2020 Looks like we may be back on the water soon. Commodore Steve and team have been working with the city and and the clubs request is moving through the approval chain. See details. 5-11-2020 The Commodore's Cup and Wrangle Regattas have been postponed. A new date has not been set for either. 5-7-2020 Second Saturday Shoreline Cleanup Saturday is on. While we're not quite back to full activities at CSC, we do still have the opportunity to contribute to the welfare of White Rock Lake. Apologies for the late notice. This Saturday at 830 to around 11am am we will be supporting the "For Love of the Lake" organization's Second Saturday Shoreline clean up. Please come out to help for a couple hours and don't forget your gloves and masks! 4-29-2020 We are entering a new phase relative to the virus on Friday, May 1. The commodore sent a newsletter today that laid out the ground rules for the near term. Key points include approval to sail recreationally by yourself or with family members, wear face covering and practice social distancing when on the dock, and no organized racing or other activities at the club. Read Steve's 4-29-2020 newsletter for details. 4-11-2020 All club activities through April 30th will be cancelled or postponed to comply with the Dallas County shelter in place order. Sailing at White Rock Lake is still not permitted until further notice. However, we are permitted to perform boat and dock repairs at the club while maintaining social distancing. The barriers that were put in place over a week ago to control automobile access were removed last weekend, so we now can access the club. Note that the park will still be closed for Easter weekend. See Commodore's April 10th newsletter for more details. 4-10-2020 White Rock Park will be closed Easter weekend, Apr 11 and 12. 4-9-2020 Saturday, Apr 11, shoreline cleanup in front of the club is cancelled. 4-9-2020 COVID-19 Update. The May Adult sailing class has been cancelled. The June class is still planned at this time. The April Women on Water (WOW) organizational meeting is postponed - details will be sent to our e-mail list. Email wow@cscsailing.org to be added to the list. No May sailing dates. For additional details, see Adult Sailing. 3-30-2020 This morning, the City of Dallas erected barriers at entrances to the lake, including East Lawther, to restrict access of motorized vehicle in order to reduce the crowd sizes. The park and trails in White Rock Lake Park are still open but you cannot access them by motorized vehicle. So, I’m passing this message on for those who may be planning to drive to the club to work or check on you boat. As of this time, we are still not permitted to sail. See Commodore's 3-30 newsletter for more details. 3-25-2020 Things are changing day to day. Most recently, due to COVID-19 concerns, the City of Dallas has informed the sailing and rowing clubs on White Rock Lake that we are to “immediately suspend all activity on White Rock Lake until further notice.” In short, we are not permitted to sail until further notice so please abide by this. However, we are permitted to perform boat and dock repairs while maintaining social distancing, that is keeping at least a 6 foot distance from others. If you do go to the club, please be smart and be safe. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation. 3-24-2020 Final results for the Flying Scot Fall 2019 Sunday series have been posted. 3-23-2020 Last weekend, we cancelled all CSC activities through March 27th in response to COVID-19. The board has made the decision to extend the cancellation of club activities for an additional 3 weeks, through April 12th. As before, this includes our Sunday Racing Program, other fleet racing on other days of the week, any private parties and our April First Friday Party. Currently, Spruce Up Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 18th. Over the next couple of weeks, the board will be evaluating if we need to extend the cancellations of activities, including Spruce Up Day, beyond April 12th. Additional information is available in the Commodore's 3-22 and 2-13 newsletters. 3-15-2020 Final results for Corinthian 2020 Frostbite Series have been posted. 3-7-2020 In light of the response and recommendations from our community’s and nation’s leaders in response to COVID-19 and in an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to cancel organized activities at CSC through March 27th. This include our Sunday Racing Program, other fleet racing on other days of the week, any private parties and our April First Friday Party. We are responsible for picking up trash and debris on the lake's shore in front of the club and need your help. Approximately 8am until 11am next Saturday, March 14. 3-7-2020 It is time to renew your CSC membership. Renewal can be completed online and needs to be completed by April 1. Parts have been ordered and should be installed in about a week. The weather station upload is also not working. We are working to bring that back online.
